Brightpearl Integrations: What Agencies Should Know Before Quoting a Project
Brightpearl tends to show up in agency projects at a specific moment: a retail client has outgrown spreadsheets and basic order management, and has moved to Brightpearl to handle inventory, orders, and accounting in one place. The problem is that Brightpearl doesn’t automatically know what’s happening on the client’s storefront, and the storefront doesn’t automatically know what’s happening in Brightpearl. Someone has to build that connection.
If you’re an agency being asked to “just connect Brightpearl to the website,” here’s what that actually involves.
Where Brightpearl Integrations Usually Go Wrong
Treating it as a plugin install
There are off-the-shelf connectors for some platform and Brightpearl combinations, but they tend to cover the basics: order creation and stock levels. The moment a client needs anything more specific, custom pricing rules, multi-warehouse stock logic, or accounting data flowing a particular way, the plugin approach runs out of road fast, and agencies end up promising something a plugin can’t deliver.
Underestimating the order flow complexity
Orders don’t just need to appear in Brightpearl. They often need to trigger stock allocation, update customer records, apply the right tax treatment, and eventually sync back to the storefront when a refund or cancellation happens. Each of these is a separate piece of integration logic, and missing one usually surfaces as a client complaint weeks after launch, not during testing.
Not accounting for two-way sync
A lot of Brightpearl work isn’t just pushing orders in, it’s pulling stock levels and product data back out so the storefront stays accurate. Two-way sync is more involved than a one-way push, and it needs proper conflict handling for cases where data changes on both sides close together.
What Good Brightpearl Integration Work Looks Like
A properly scoped Brightpearl integration usually starts with mapping out exactly which data needs to move in which direction, and when. Orders in, stock levels out, customer data both ways, and a clear answer for what happens when something fails partway through a sync. Getting this mapped out before development starts saves a huge amount of back-and-forth later.
Working With Zestcode on Brightpearl Projects
We build Brightpearl integrations for agencies as part of our white label API integration work, connecting it to WooCommerce, Shopify, or custom platforms depending on what the client’s storefront runs on. We work under NDA and deliver everything under your agency’s name, so you can quote and manage the relationship as if the work was done in-house.
If you’ve got a client running Brightpearl who needs their storefront properly connected to it, get in touch and we can help you scope the integration before you commit to a price.
