Meddbase API Integrations Explained
Clinics and occupational health providers rarely run on Meddbase alone. The cost usually sits in the gap between Meddbase and everything else. This is what closing that gap involves.
What a Meddbase API integration actually does
Meddbase is a cloud based electronic medical records and practice management platform. It is used by private medical practices, corporate healthcare providers and in-house occupational health teams across sectors including aviation, energy, logistics, manufacturing, education and the public sector.
It covers clinical records, appointments, billing and patient engagement. What it does not do is replace your website, your corporate client portals, your accounting system or your management reporting.
An integration connects those. A booking taken on your website creates the appointment in Meddbase. A completed assessment triggers the invoice in your finance system. A corporate client logs into your portal and sees live status rather than a report someone compiled on Friday.
What Meddbase exposes to developers
Meddbase documents an open API intended for third party connectivity and custom integrations, and describes real time data exchange across connected systems. It already integrates with categories including laboratory information systems, billing and payment software, pharmacy management systems and telehealth tools.
One practical note before you budget anything. What is available to your organisation depends on your Meddbase agreement and the modules you hold, so the first thing we do is confirm exactly what your account exposes. We would rather establish that in week one than assume it and discover otherwise mid build.
If your integration also has to speak to an NHS or third party clinical system, tell us early. Those requirements change the shape of a project considerably and are much cheaper to design for than to retrofit.
Data protection is part of the build, not a review at the end
Any integration touching clinical records carries obligations that a stock inventory sync does not.
We scope the minimum data that actually needs to move rather than syncing whole records because it is easier. Transfers are encrypted, access is credentialed and limited, and activity is logged so you can demonstrate what moved and when. Where a client portal is involved, we are explicit about which fields a corporate client can and cannot see, because that boundary is usually where the risk sits.
None of this is optional or chargeable as an extra. It is how the work is done.
