How a Salesforce Integration Comes Together

Step 1
Free 30-min call

We learn what needs connecting

We start with a short call to understand which systems sit around Salesforce, the workflow you want to automate, and where the manual rekeying happens today. No jargon and no commitment, just a clear picture of what the Salesforce API allows and roughly what it would take.

Step 2
Within a few days

We map the data and quote

We map exactly which objects and fields move, in which direction, and what should happen in the awkward cases, like duplicate contacts or a part-failed batch, that most projects forget. You get a fixed-price proposal with a clear scope and timeline, so there are no surprises once we begin.

Step 3
Build phase

We build and test in a sandbox

We build against a Salesforce sandbox, not a mock, so we hit the same governor limits, validation rules and quirks you will see in production. Every integration is tested with messy, real-world data and documented as we go, including the objects and authentication it relies on.

Step 4
Launch and beyond

We launch it and keep it running

We deploy with monitoring and alerting in place, so you know the moment anything stops flowing. You get full documentation and optional ongoing support for Salesforce's three-times-a-year releases and any API changes, so the integration keeps working without you thinking about it.

Salesforce API Integration FAQs

Salesforce API Integration Services for Growing Organisations

Most Salesforce projects start with the same frustration: the CRM holds the customer, but the invoice, the course booking and the marketing list all live somewhere else, so someone spends their week copying data between them. Here is how we connect Salesforce to the rest of your stack and keep it reliable once real data starts moving.

What a Salesforce API integration actually does

A Salesforce API integration is a direct connection between Salesforce and another system, so the two share data automatically instead of relying on someone to export a report and paste it in. It can push records out of Salesforce, pull them in, or keep both sides matched in near real time.

In practice that means a new lead from your website landing in Salesforce already tagged and assigned, a paid invoice in your finance system marking the opportunity as won, or a completed course updating a contact's record without anyone touching it. These are the quiet, repetitive jobs where a team loses hours and where mistakes creep in when someone is rushing.

We treat the connection as part of your infrastructure, not a throwaway script. It should keep working long after everyone has forgotten it is there.

The systems we connect Salesforce to

Salesforce rarely sits on its own. We connect it to the finance, web, learning and marketing tools around it so the CRM stays the single source of truth rather than one more place to update by hand.

Common connections include accounting and payment platforms so invoices and transactions reconcile against opportunities, websites and portals so form submissions and account activity flow straight in, and eLearning or training management systems so enrolments and completions stay current. If your customer portal or member area needs building alongside the integration, that often overlaps with our portal and platform development work, and payment flows pair naturally with Worldpay payment integration.

If a platform exposes an API, we can almost certainly connect it to Salesforce. Where it does not, there is usually still a supported route in, and we will tell you plainly whether it is worth taking.

The Salesforce APIs we work with

Salesforce offers several APIs, and picking the right one matters as much as the code around it. For everyday reads and writes we use the REST API; for moving large volumes of records in and out we use the Bulk API so you are not fighting limits one record at a time.

Where something needs to happen the moment it changes, we work with Platform Events and the Streaming API so the integration reacts to activity rather than polling on a timer. For deeper custom logic we build against Apex REST endpoints, and we handle authentication properly through Connected Apps and OAuth rather than storing static credentials.

Choosing between these is not academic. The right combination is what keeps an integration fast, within limits and stable when your data volume grows.

Not sure how far your Salesforce data can go?

Send us the platforms involved and the workflow you are trying to automate. We will tell you honestly what the Salesforce API allows and what it would take to build.

Integrations for training providers and membership organisations

A lot of our Salesforce work is for training providers and membership bodies, where the CRM has to line up with course bookings, renewals and learning records. When those systems drift apart, members get chased for fees they have paid or booked onto courses that are already full.

We connect Salesforce to training management and learning platforms so enrolments, attendance and completions update against the contact automatically, and to your website so joining, renewing and booking all write back to one record. If you run AccessPlanit, we have connected it to Salesforce before and know where its API behaves and where it needs care.

The result is a membership or training operation where the CRM reflects reality, and your team spends time on members rather than reconciling spreadsheets.

How we build and test against the real Salesforce API

We start by mapping the data: what moves, in which direction, how often, and what should happen when Salesforce and another system disagree about the same record. That last question is the one most projects skip and later regret.

From there we build against a Salesforce sandbox, not a mock, so we hit the same governor limits, field validation and error responses you will see in production. We test with awkward, real-world data on purpose, because tidy data is not what breaks integrations. Duplicate contacts, missing fields and part-failed batches are exactly the cases we design for.

You get documentation covering what was built, which objects and fields it touches and how it authenticates, so the next developer, ours or yours, is not reverse-engineering it later. If you are currently holding a process together with a chain of no-code steps, our business automation work is often where that conversation starts.

Governor limits, security and keeping it running

Salesforce enforces governor limits and API call caps, and an integration that ignores them works fine in testing and then throttles the day you go live at volume. We build with those limits in mind from the start, batching sensibly and using the Bulk API where it belongs, so the connection scales instead of stalling.

Security gets the same care. An integration moves your most sensitive data, so we authenticate through OAuth and Connected Apps, request only the object and field access the job genuinely needs, and encrypt data in transit. Where the work touches personal data we build with your obligations in mind rather than bolting them on afterwards, and front-end consent handling pairs with our GDPR cookie consent setup.

Salesforce also releases three times a year and can change or retire API behaviour, so we add error handling and alerting that tells you the moment something stops flowing. For teams who would rather not think about it, we monitor and maintain the integration as part of our wider API integration support.
