Unleashed holds your stock, but the value comes from what it talks to. If you are weighing up an integration, the questions worth answering are which systems can be connected to Unleashed, how the data stays consistent once real orders start flowing, and who keeps it running when something upstream changes. Here is how we handle all three.
What an Unleashed API integration actually does for you
Unleashed is strong at inventory, purchasing and production, but on its own it sits apart from your storefront, your CRM and your accounting. An integration is the bridge that lets those systems exchange data directly, on a schedule or the moment something happens, so nothing has to be exported and rekeyed.
In practice that means a web order drops into Unleashed as a sales order, stock levels push back out to your shop so you stop overselling, and new customers land in the right place with the right details. These are the small, repetitive jobs where a team quietly loses hours each week and where mistakes creep in when someone is rushing.
We treat the connection as infrastructure rather than a throwaway script. It should keep working long after you have forgotten it is there.
The platforms we connect Unleashed with
Most businesses run Unleashed alongside a mix of tools that no single vendor ties together. Day to day we connect it to ecommerce platforms, CRMs, accounting systems and bespoke internal software.
On the storefront side we work with Shopify and WooCommerce most often, whether that is a standard sync or something bespoke built through our white label Shopify development and WooCommerce development. On the CRM side we regularly link Unleashed to HubSpot and Salesforce so sales and stock share the same view of a customer.
If your platform has an API, we can almost certainly connect it to Unleashed. If it does not, there is usually still a workable route, and we will tell you plainly whether it is worth taking.
Keeping stock, orders and customers in sync
The hard part of any Unleashed integration is not moving data once, it is keeping it consistent when both systems are being updated at the same time. We start by mapping exactly what moves, in which direction, and how often: sales orders in, stock levels out, product and pricing updates, customer records, fulfilment status back to the store.
The question most projects skip is what should happen when two systems disagree, such as a stock count that differs between Unleashed and your shop, or an order edited in both places. We decide that behaviour up front so the sync has a single source of truth for each field rather than quietly overwriting the wrong one.
The result is data your team can act on without second-guessing it, because they know Unleashed and everything around it are telling the same story. Off-the-shelf connectors versus a custom build
Not every Unleashed integration needs custom code. There are ready-made connectors and no-code tools that handle simple, low-volume syncs, and if one genuinely covers your case we will say so rather than sell you a build.
Where they tend to fall down is volume, edge cases and control: pricing that climbs with every order synced, mappings that break on the one product that does not fit the template, and no clear view when a sync fails silently and stock drifts out of line. A custom build costs more up front and earns it back on anything high-volume or business-critical, where you need it logged, reliable and yours.

How we build and test on the real Unleashed API
Once the data map is agreed, we build against the live Unleashed API in a staging environment rather than a mock. That way we hit the same authentication, rate limits and pagination behaviour you will see in production, instead of discovering them after go-live.
We test with awkward, real-world data on purpose: part-fulfilled orders, discontinued products, duplicate customers, negative stock. Clean data is not what breaks an integration, so we go looking for the cases that do. You get documentation explaining what was built and how, so the next developer, ours or yours, is not reverse-engineering it later.

Unleashed and the platforms around it are not fixed. Providers deprecate endpoints, change authentication and adjust rate limits, and your own catalogue, pricing and workflows shift as you grow.
