Here is how we approach all three.
What WordPress speed optimisation actually involves
Speed optimisation is the work of finding everything that makes a page take longer than it should and dealing with each cause on its merits. That means the front end the browser has to download and render, the PHP and database work WordPress does on every request, and the server that has to serve it all under load.
Most sites we look at have gained weight gradually. A page builder here, three plugins that each load their own scripts on every page, an uncompressed hero image, a theme querying the database more than it needs to. None of it is dramatic on its own, but together it turns a page that should load in under two seconds into one that takes six.
The aim is not a single big fix. It is a series of specific, measured changes, each one verified against real numbers rather than assumed to help.
Diagnosing what is slowing your site down
We start by measuring, not guessing. We run the site through Lighthouse, WebPageTest and query profiling so we can see where the time is genuinely being spent, rather than fixing the thing that is easiest to blame.
That usually splits into a few clear areas. Front-end weight from scripts, styles and images. The server and hosting side of speed
You can optimise the front end perfectly and still be held back by a slow server response. If WordPress takes two seconds to build a page, no amount of image compression hides that, and it is the part cheap hosting handles worst.
We tune PHP versions and workers, object caching with Redis, and the web server itself so it is doing the right work. Where the hosting is the real limit, we are honest about it.
