Move Your Sanity Project Onto WordPress
Sanity is capable software, but a developer-only Studio, usage-based billing and two systems to maintain make it hard to live with for a content site. We rebuild your Sanity project faithfully on WordPress, with Portable Text converted carefully and the code handed over as yours.

Why Migrate With Us
Seven years of custom WordPress builds, done in-house by a UK team, so your Sanity project is remodelled properly rather than approximated, with Portable Text converted carefully and the code handed over as yours.
An Editor-Friendly Admin
Your team swaps a Studio that lives in code for the familiar WordPress admin they already know, so content work stops depending on a developer.
Predictable Flat Costs
You trade usage-based billing on API calls, bandwidth and seats for a flat, predictable hosting cost that does not spike when traffic rises.
Portable Text Converted Carefully
Your Portable Text is converted to Gutenberg blocks or clean, well-structured HTML, so rich content keeps its structure and nothing is lost in the move.
Your Content Model Mapped Across
Sanity documents and references become Posts, custom post types and proper relationships with ACF, so editing stays as structured as it was in the Studio.
Keep Headless If You Need To
Where a decoupled front end must stay, we run WordPress headless via the REST API or WPGraphQL, so you keep your Next.js or React app on a friendlier CMS.
You Own the Code
The theme and any custom code are handed over documented, on hosting you control, with no usage meter running and no subscription keeping your site online.
The Stack We Move You Onto
A custom WordPress build at the core, with ACF or Gutenberg handling the structured content your schemas and Portable Text used to, and your integrations rebuilt against real APIs. Where a decoupled front end must remain, we run WordPress headless, and where a project is genuinely an application rather than a site, we will tell you and build it on Laravel instead.

Sanity to WordPress FAQs
Migrating a Sanity Project to WordPress
Most people arrive at this page with the same situation: a capable Sanity project that has become developer-dependent to edit and unpredictable to budget. Here is what the migration actually involves and what you end up with.
Why teams move off Sanity
Sanity is a hosted headless CMS known for highly structured content, built around the GROQ query language, Portable Text for rich text, and Sanity Studio, an editing interface that is itself configured in code. It is genuinely capable, so teams rarely leave because the software disappoints them. They leave because of what surrounds it.
It is developer-centric, so editors need onboarding and the Studio has to be built and maintained in code rather than configured in an admin. Usage-based billing on API requests, bandwidth, datasets and seats can grow unpredictably as traffic rises, and you are maintaining two things, the Studio and the separate front end. For a content site, many teams simply want a familiar admin with predictable costs, which is where our WordPress development agency work comes in.
Converting Portable Text and the content model
We take your existing design and reproduce it as a custom WordPress theme, rather than reaching for a commercial theme or a page builder. A page builder would only recreate the lock-in you are leaving, storing your layout in a proprietary format that is painful to move again later. The front end your GROQ queries used to drive is rebuilt as clean templates that do only what your site needs.
Converting Portable Text is the part that keeps content clean. Each block type, mark and embed is mapped to Gutenberg blocks or clean, well-structured HTML, and your schemas become Posts, custom post types and ACF fields so the admin your team logs into makes sense from day one. The result looks like your Sanity site to a visitor and stays just as structured for the people managing it, handled as part of the same web design and development discipline.
Migrating documents, references and assets
A migration is only worth doing if nothing is lost in it. Sanity documents are exported through the API and imported as Posts and custom post types, references become proper post relationships rather than flattening into plain text, and assets are pulled from the Sanity asset CDN into the Media Library so your files live with the site you own. Where the project relied on a third-party service, we rebuild that connection properly through our API integration work rather than leaving it tied to the old setup.
Occasionally a Sanity project is closer to an application than a website, with accounts, permissions and workflows at its core. That is portal and platform development, which we build on Laravel, and we will tell you when a project has crossed that line rather than forcing it onto WordPress. Agencies can have all of this delivered under their own brand through our white label WordPress development.
Not sure what your Sanity project needs?
Tell us about the build, even roughly. We will tell you plainly what migrating it would take and roughly what it would cost, with no sales pitch attached.
Consolidate or stay headless, performance, cost and ownership
There are two sensible routes off Sanity and we advise honestly on which fits. Most content and marketing sites are simpler and cheaper to run consolidated onto a conventional WordPress theme. Where a decoupled Next.js or React front end is working well and must stay, we run WordPress headless through the REST API or WPGraphQL, so you keep the app and only change the CMS underneath it. Clean headings, metadata and a lean build keep performance strong, and where speed needs pushing further our WordPress speed optimisation work carries on from there.
Ownership and cost are the other half of it. At handover the theme, the code and the site are yours, documented, on hosting you control, with flat and predictable costs in place of usage billing. Our WordPress support retainers are available if you would rather we kept it updated and monitored, and if you want to talk it through first you can always get in touch. Either way, keeping your own site online never depends on a usage meter again.
